I wish someone told me this earlier.
The first time I came across this simple life truth was during my gap year in 2014:
Start with the end in mind.
In other words, if you don’t know where you’re going any road will lead you there.
While I’m not a big fan of putting too much focus on improving your mindset, visualizing your future all the time, and planning, planning, planning…
…You have to know what you want…
…And—more important—why you want it.
A strong WHY.
Having a strong “why,” the driving force behind any great achievement, is necessary. Yet, I’m not here to tell you what it is for you. I don’t know. Only you know. And if you don’t know what it is for you (remember, I struggled to find my “why” until I turned 27 years)… that may be your “why.” Your reason “why” is to find your “why.”
Make no mistake.
Without a strong internal drive, you will not only stay stuck in your own life, but you will also feel bad about yourself.
You will not grow personally and professionally. You will not contribute to the levels you are capable of.
If that sounds like a lot of work, you’re right.
In fact, it doesn’t matter what you do… life will be tough.
But.
What else are you doing?
Guideposts to finding your “why”:
Back to square one.
Try out different jobs, different hobbies.
Look for ways to develop yourself and your skills, so that you become more valuable to others. Keep focusing on adding value, but never neglect your values and integrity for short-term profits. It’s not worth doing. Play the long game, instead.
And some more…
Now, instead of bombarding you with more input, I suggest you take daily action.
Any action.
The other option is to not take action.
However, we both know that giving up is not a valid option.
