Imagine that happened TO YOU.

November 21, 2015

Imagine YOUR LIFE changed from one second to the other.

Imagine waking up and suddenly sensing some weird pain.

What do you do?

You go see the doc.

Right?

He, then, scrutinizes your condition. (Of course, you don’t expect anything serious.)

Finally, you await the results.

You wait … and wait … and wait …

… Until you get the SHOCKING diagnosis:

AML—Acute myeloid leukemia

Heavy stuff.

Well … that’s exactly what happened to my cute little 5 year old cousin Elise a few weeks ago.

Out of the blue.

Without warning.

Life changes.

That’s also the reason why you haven’t heard from me personally until now…

I was busy thinking of her, and praying to God…

Right now, I just hope that God relieves her of this enormous pain—no matter the outcome. You know what I mean?

FUBAR.

If you’re suffering more and more intensely, yet still keep on fighting with the odds completely against yourself.

Or:

If everything is taking away from you—inch by inch …

No real hope in sight.

What would you do?

I don’t know.

But here’s what I take from this whole experience as an observer:

1. Life Is Short.

It all reminded me once again that life is short. Time is the most valuable resource we have, but most of the time we squander it like we’d have an unlimited amount.

Most of us live unconscious lives. (I’ve definitely been guilty of that in my past!)

We’re either thinking of past events or what may happen in the near future; not fully living in the here and now.

We don’t realize that life can literally end (or dramatically change) in a split sec.

Therefore, we have to come back to the only truth there is; the present experience we all call “life.”

It’s the only real thing we’ll ever have.

So, protect your time as if your life depended on it—because it does.

2. Do Your Best.

Don’t worry about perfectionism, and don’t think things need to be “perfect.” Instead, give it your best shot.

Be yourself, be authentic, and be real.

Further, do the things you said you would do. Don’t delay any further.

Develop the courage and confidence to make things happen.

Dream big and go for your dreams.

3. Do It Now.

If you wanted to learn a new language, go for it.

If you wanted to master a new skill (e.g. writing), go for it.

If you wanted to be more confident, go for it.

If you wanted    … GO FOR IT.

Know that you can learn something new every single day and improve your abilities, but you gotta …

… do it now.

There’re only so many tomorrows.

Once you get that momentum going … everything is possible.

What are you going to do? For me, right after writing this blog post, I’ll go back and create some new stuff.

What do you do?

Well, it’s up to you. (There’s a hint in the P.S. section)

P.S. Do yourself a BIG favor: Be grateful for what you already have TODAY. I don’t mean material possessions here … it’s about all the little things of life (like nature, the sun, the air you breathe, your full-functioning body, etc.). Write them down and really feel them. Express gratitude for all these seemingly small things and you’ll be amazed what a difference it makes in your life.
