Santa’s oUtLaNdIsH 2016 social anxiety plan

December 25, 2015

Heya!

I know it’s Christmas night and you probably want to go to bed (I do too!) but I HAVE to tell you about this crazy little guy who showed up at my door tonight.

He was short, about 1.20 meters tall.

He also had weird shoes that curled at the toe.

And—even weirder—he had a giant schnauzer.

I asked him who he was and he said he was a messenger from Santa!

Apparently, Santa is getting more and more stressed because he’s concerned about his appearance right now. Most of his work is done, and he wants to enjoy life. But he’s worried about going out in public during the off-season; he fears other people could make fun of him due to his “odd looks.”

So he wanted my advice.

Can you believe that?

So here’s what I told this messenger (this crazy little guy) to tell Santa:

1. Stop making assumptions!

I told the messenger to tell Santa to stop making assumptions. He should stop believing that other people were really judging him. Why? Because, most of the time (and that’s 99%), they’re NOT judging at all.

They’re busy thinking about themselves—and what’s most important to them. It sounds weird, but that’s the truth. Most of them couldn’t care less about what you’re doing or how you dress (even if it’s as outlandish as Santa does).

But.

WHAT IF they’re judging? (the remaining 1%)

Simple.

Don’t give a fuck about what they are doing. Remember that you only live once. If you’re STILL worrying: Get a freaking life.

…Which leads us on to the next one:

2. Quit talking yourself down!

When dealing with other people, don’t defeat yourself before showing up.

In other words: Be gentle with yourself. Treat yourself well in order to treat others well. Just as you (Santa) do when bringing the kids their Christmas presents.

Or, as stated in the bible, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

3. Start pushing your limits

He doesn’t have to go berserk here, he can start with one lil’ step a time.

Further I said to tell Santa this is NOT achieved overnight.

Overnight success is a scam.

It’s about STARTING TODAY with whatever he’s got. Not someday.

It’s all about making someday today. No excuses.

4. Start taking more action!

Instead of reading more and more about how to overcome his fear or (worse!) how to avoid it, I told the messenger to tell Santa to get his big butt outside and take real action in real time … it’s great for his self-esteem and self-respect.

(Besides, it’s also good for weight loss and his overall health.)

5. Get rid of Knecht Ruprecht

Let’s face it.

This guy is unbearable.

Don’t know him?

(Hint: Blows were struck.)

Not enough a hint?

Maybe, he just exists here in Germany. I don’t know… Wait a second …

…I’m gonna check out a German/English dict. I’ll be right back.

Ok, I’m back.

Well, I’ve checked out dict.cc (my fav online dictionary) in order to get the exact equivalent … but the only thing I could find was “Santa’s little helper.”

That definitely sounds too innocent for me!

Why?

Because Knecht Ruprecht’s (K.R.) main job is dealing out blows. Worse! He really enjoys doing that.

Therefore I told the messenger that Santa should beware of whom he associates with.

It’s stated that we become the average of the five people closest to us. So we become who we associate with.

In Santa’s case, he needs to get rid of him. Kick him in the butt or do whatever you like, Santa. But get away from him—he’s a sucker!

I also reminded the messenger that getting rid of K.R. helps Santa make room for more positive influence in his life.

Now, he could associate with positive & uplifting people. In turn, he would become an even more attractive person himself. How about that?

Anyway, so that’s that.

This is the plan I have for Santa.

We’ll see if he listens in 2016.

Have a GREAT holiday season.

I’ll see you soon! :)
