This too shall pass …
…IF you take action.
Sitting around feeling hopeless won’t help you much except getting stressed out and worried even more. But merely thinking more positively won’t change much, either. (Been there, done both.)
The only real answer is to change your mindset AND get back up.
Take action
In retrospect, it’s interesting to see that the mere belief in my ability to figure things out along the way (though I didn’t realize I had that ability back then) WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ENOUGH.
Yes, I had some fortunate coincidences. I was lucky. I met the right people at the right time. But that’s the result. It had nothing—let me repeat, NOTHING—to do with the PROCESS.
In short: I was willing to do whatever it took.
That’s what made it all happen.
I was willing to meet strangers when I was in a new country with zero connections, friends, guidance, no job, just few savings … I put the work in and figured it out. (In case you don’t know my story, at the age of 20 I traveled from Germany to Australia for one year; a journey that transformed my life. You can read more about it here.)
It’s pretty amazing how much you can improve your life if you’re focused, committed and put ALL excuses aside. All of them.
They were all bullshit
I blamed my parents, my teachers, my former classmates, my “weaknesses,” my lack of social skills, my past … Everything I could for my current circumstances.
Surprisingly … nothing changed.
Then, I tried a different approach and with a little tweaking over here and there made hundreds of new friends & acquaintances, enhanced my English skills, took my first steps into entrepreneurship, became much more relaxed and confident, built my social skills (formerly nonexistent) … and much more I don’t want to talk about here, because I’m sure it already sounds too good to be true AND as if I’m bragging.
Right?
I’m not. (Or, am I?)
Whatever.
I don’t want to impress you. I want to show you what’s possible if you do whatever it takes. What can happen for you if you stop blaming everyone else, and start taking action towards what you want to achieve.
If you need to quit doing what you’re doing right now (in order for you to come closer to your dreams), know that it is ok—NO it’s necessary—to quit. Just don’t give up.
Never ever give up.
