Today, I’ve made it a point to listen to classic hip hop music—alone.
On purpose.
No alcohol involved. No bitches, either.
What better song to listen to right now than Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe from the good old 2012 GKMC album by Kendrick Lamar?
You know what I like most about people like Kendrick? It is how down to earth and real they stay (even after making tens of millions).
Matter of fact, I’m allowed to make that statement after having seen him perform live. (Just kidding.)
But.
Though I don’t like this expression, let’s face it:
There’re A LOT of fake-ass motherfuckers out there. You know these guys. Talking ’bout results, but never having any. People who promise you and me the world, but after real investigation have nothing to show for.
Yet, they keep talking. So, let’s let ’em talk.
Mmmove on
So where did we left off?
Ooh wee! We talked about staying real and being alone on purpose.
Now most people would ask me, Why don’t you just go out and have fun?
Simple. I get bored going out and “just having fun.”
ZERO satisfaction.
I hate to party. I hate to do small talk. I hate to fake a smile.
That doesn’t mean I’m dead serious all the time. I’m just good at enjoying my own company. And I have different priorities. Many people are afraid to be alone and do things on their own. (That’s sad.) Sounds arrogant? I don’t care.
Besides that, I have enough great friends and we do things that are WAY cooler than drinking, partying, smoking, and having sex combined.
#TGIF, or Thank G(o)od(ness) It’s Friday
What does the word weekend mean to you? Freedom from having to work? Time for yourself and your hobbies? Time for your family?
For me, it means NOTHING.
I work everyday. Why I do it?
Because I’m passionate.
Here’s the deal:
If you’re passionate about something (and you can be passionate about ANYTHING), you don’t care if it’s Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday … (did I miss a day? Oh, yeah: Sunday). You’re internally driven to go for something bigger than yourself. You feel fulfilled in the moment. It sounds crazy But once you find your passion, you really want to LIVE IT. You don’t even care what time it is. Why?
Because, now, you’re passionate.
