4 Ways to Be More Passionate about Your Life Again

4 Ways to Be More Passionate about Your Life Again

All successful people have ONE thing in common. They all have, what I call, “the #1 most important ingredient for success”: Passion.

Tony Hawk, LeBron James, Lewis Hamilton, Donald Trump, Sir Richard Branson, Elon Musk, the Dalai Lama … you name ’em.

They are ALL passionate.

Talking ’bout passion, this came to my mind. It’s an excerpt from an interview with Steve Jobs, former CEO of Apple, at the D5 conference on May 30, 2007:

People say you have to have a lot of passion for what you’re doing and it’s totally true. And the reason is because it’s so hard that if you don’t, any rational person would give up. It’s really hard. And you have to do it over a sustained period of time. So if you don’t love it, if you’re not having fun doing it, you don’t really love it, you’re going to give up. And that’s what happens to most people, actually. If you really look at the ones that ended up, you know, being “successful” in the eyes of society and the ones that didn’t, oftentimes, it’s the ones [who] were successful loved what they did so they could persevere, you know, when it got really tough. And the ones that didn’t love it quit because they’re sane, right? Who would want to put up with this stuff if you don’t love it? So it’s a lot of hard work and it’s a lot of worrying constantly and if you don’t love it, you’re going to fail. So you’ve got to love it and you’ve got to have passion and I think that’s the high-order bit.” ~Steve Jobs

You see, everything else (work hard/grind/hustle/persevere/etc.) is mandatory.

It’s a given. Passion is the foundation that must be in place FIRST.

It’s up to you … only you know what you’re really passionate about.

Oh! One more point before we jump into the actual steps:

Life’s a journey, not a destination.

Don’t get caught up into thinking that you got to transform your life overnight. That’s a freaking fantasy. Even if you finally find your passion (or strategies to be more passionate about life on a consistent basis) … there’re going to be challenges. Expect them. That’s life. Experience it. Embrace it. Enjoy it.

Focus on daily improvements.

Now, the How-To:

So how can you, too, be (more) passionate about your life again?

Simple.

Why not asking “The Entrepreneur Roller Coaster” author Darren Hardy, who also happens to be the publisher of SUCCESS Magazine?

According to Darren, here are 4 ways to be more passionate:

—INSPIRING INSIGHTS—

  1. WHAT: Most people only focus on that; the activity at hand. There’s nothing wrong with that. However, it’s oftentimes not enough to keep your levels of passion high if you rely on this factor alone. (Remember that passion is a state you can manipulate anytime? You are in charge!) Read on.
  2. WHO: In short, the people you interact with. In your work life that means your boss, clients, customers, prospects, employees. In your personal life that’s your spouse, friends, colleagues, acquaintances. To my mind (Mario) the WHO-part is the most critical when it comes to being more passionate, as well as your personal growth in general. Why? Because other people have the power to make or break us if we hang around them long enough. So, focus on surrounding yourself with uplifting, empowering, and—yes—passionate people. It’s the easiest way I know.
  3. WHY: Your life purpose/mission/contribution. Why are you doing what you’re doing? Chances are you lack a big WHY; something you’re passionate about that serves others and the greater good. If that’s true, then today is the day to decide what it’s going to be. What would you love to help others with? Or, What do you hate / believe is an injustice? Sometimes pain can be a greater motivator to live your purpose and to live life with passion. Isn’t it interesting that here in Germany passion means “Leidenschaft” (“Leiden” = pain)?
  4. HOW: Three words. No, not “I love you.” It is: Strive. For. Excellence. Not always easy but once you find the sweet-spot of doing average work and getting stuck in the, what I call, “Perfection Trap” … you begin to fuel your passion just by the way you do things. Excellence > Perfection.

Focus on these 4 factors on a consistent (i.e. DAILY) basis and you start feeling and being more passionate about your life again in a matter of days. It’s all about consistency, habits, the daily practice, whatever you call it.

Put in the time and effort …will ya? It’s worth it.

And, as always:

Enjoy the Journey,
