I used to say, “Everything happens for a reason.”
No more.
Nowadays I believe that there’s a lesson to be learned in everything that happens.
BIG difference.
Because it isn’t always appropriate to say that everything happens for a reason. Take the French part of my family, for example: They lost their 5-year-old daughter to that AML cancer shit—my cousin Elise. It happened out of the blue. We were all shocked. We will miss her forever.
Anyway, happened 2.5 years ago.
Still hurts.
So I don’t believe people who say that everything has happened for a reason.
But I do believe you if you say, “Everything happens so that we can learn and grow as human beings and expand our human experience.”
That includes suffering.
