Focus on What’s Essential

Listening to some old school rap at the moment.

At this very moment in time it’s Dr Dre’s epic The Watcher. I don’t know why, but these beats always help me get inspired and come up with great ideas.

So for today…

…What’s in store?

This.

Let’s focus on what’s essential; your overall focus. From time to time I ask people (as well as good friends of mine), Do you have focus right now?

Sometimes to tease them, depending on the context of our conversation. More frequently, however, I use it to help ’em get back on track—and to remind myself as well to stay focused.

Because I’m not mister perfect. Never have been and never will be. It’s also stupid to aspire to become perfect, by the way. (Entire story for another time.)

At least, in my opinion.

That’s why I currently immerse myself in mastering habits (and focusing on strategy). Because… well, read the quotes below. Here’re the two books I’m studying in my free time right now—High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard and Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss. Great books!

Favorite quotes, so far:

The world cares less about your strengths and personality than about your service and meaningful contributions to others.

–Brendon Burchard

Losers have goals. Winners have systems.

–Tim Ferriss

Main takeaway for me is that I must finally get *certain* stuff done. Maybe, you too. Maybe ;-)

Talk soon,
