HSP Experts Who Don’t Make No Sense
Some things just don’t make no sense.
Especially when it comes to advice for highly sensitive people.
Some “advice” is so generic that it simply doesn’t help or it
applies to anyone. But that’s just ONE of these “don’t make no
sense” things I want to talk about with you today.
In fact, it gets worst. Why?
Because there’s another sort of advice that is well-meant
but just horrible FOR YOU.
Welcome to “Survival Tips For HSP”
Wanna get a taste of it?
Check out these “HSP Survival Tips”:
- Find a balance between creating too much stimulation, which causes anxiety, and too little stimulation, which results in boredom. (Incredible insight, isn’t it?)
- It’s helpful to arise at the same time on weekends as you do during the week so that you’ll be sleepy on Sunday evening.
- Being in control of how much stimulation you are exposed to, will decrease how much the stimulation will bother you. (Great, so how can I use this at a stressful and already overwhelming job?)
- Warm baths can be a wonderfully relaxing treat.
- Giving and receiving unconditional love is uplifting.
- Minimize intake of caffeine.
- Have to deal with a crowded place? Minimize your exposure and wear earplugs.
- Wear sunglasses. (I’m NOT kiddin’ here!)
- Avoid bright lights late at night.
- Last but not least:
Heavy traffic is stressful? Avoid situations where you have to drive in heavy traffic. (Haha great one … NOT!)
And, unfortunately, the list goes on.
Fortunately there’re more important things in my life that keep
me from listing more examples …
…Besides, listing more examples here wouldn’t make no sense either.
Bottom line, don’t give advice unless you know what you’re talking about.
Can you tell somebody STEP-BY-STEP what to do to accomplish X? Do you have PROVEN strategies that someone can start implementing in his/her own life TODAY? No? Then get out of here! (I don’t mean YOU here but ALL the so-called “HSP experts.”)
Sorry, but it had to be said so bluntly.

P.S. A new episode of ‘The Highly Sensitive Journey’ podcast was released yesterday where I go over why survival tips for HSP (literally) suck and present a different approach that DOES make A LOT of sense.
