Learn from Apple (also known as “how to make others depend on you and value you and your service highly”).
Because, let’s face it: Apple’s products aren’t top-notch anymore. Yet they still sell like crazy. What could be the reason? Why?!
Positioning/marketing.
Making your product stand out; be different.
If you don’t have an iPhone, well, you don’t have an iPhone.
Remember?
A bit dated… but still in your mind.
To be fair, it’s not Apple per se.
Let’s take a look at Google.
Google does it with their new Pixel 2/2xl. (No expandable storage, but unlimited Google Drive cloud space. No headphone jack, but some other weird unnecessary shit. If you know what I mean….)
And Samsung started a while ago with their Galaxy series (S Gear, S Health, S Notes, S Pay, S Whatever). They try their best to hook us and make us depend on them. Pretty successful, so far.
So far, so good…
Where it gets even as ridiculous as Huawei in their latest promotion. No joke; you actually had to not only fill in your whole personal information, but also cut out the IMEI number (unique to each product) before scanning. Why? So you can’t sell the phone anymore for decent money.
To make you dependable, in other words.
What you got, by the way, was a Moleskine Smart Writing Set for the Mate 10 Pro—and more recently, you can still get a fitness tracker plus a body-fat scale on top with the P10/P10+ (exclusively at Vodafone, of course).
If I sound like an advertisement, be it. Not my intention really, but well. If you’re wondering, What’s the point of today’s post… here it comes.
What can we learn from these brands?
Create your own infrastructure. Give people something they can’t get anywhere else. Don’t compete on price (or anything else that can be easily competed with). Be unique, be different, be distinct.
The same goes for dating.
The same goes for mating.
The same goes for gaming.
The same goes for…
…You got the idea already. Great:)
