Where There’s Light There’s Shadow

January 16, 2016

Recently I found this great quote on Goodreads:

Where there is light, there must be shadow, where there is shadow there must be light.” –Haruki Murakami

Time to ponder.

IF someone tells you that everything is GREAT, do you believe them?

I don’t.

There’re only two rare occasions when that’s true:

  1. He’s grateful for everything that happens.
  2. Or, he takes drugs. (I’m serious.)

Think critically

Nobody is perfect. Especially on the Internet and on social media with all the get rich quick / make money online scams ‘n schemes. Beware of them.

Nowadays, we also hear a lot about ‘positive psychology,’ ‘positive thinking,’ or the so-called ‘law of attraction.’ (Thank you, The Secret.)

There’s nothing wrong with thinking positively. I’m a firm believer that your attitude & mindset determines most of your outcomes in life.

However.

We got to be realistic. Don’t fool yourself. It takes time and work to make changes. Nothing great was ever accomplished in a day—it takes months and sometimes even years. There is no shortcut but one:

Start today.

If you need guidance, follow the simple formula below.

The three-step-formula:

  1. Craft A Vision: Take one area of your life and imagine your desired outcome as already there. (Sense it. Feel it. Smell it. Hear it. Close your eyes and use your vivid imagination. Let go of limitations; they’re only in your mind.)
  2. Come back to the present moment and THINK: “What ONE small action can I take today that (over time) moves me closer to my vision, my desired outcome (STEP 1)?”
  3. Next, take action on STEP 2 today.

Example:

  1. Area: Relationships; “I can make quality friendships wherever I go.”
  2. Write down on paper what a “quality friendship” looks like for you.
  3. Do Step 2. Think and write it down.

Hope that helps,
