What the fuck?” I asked myself recently.
(In reality, I screamed it out loud.)
What happened you wanna know?
I turned on my tv, and—FASTEN YOUR SEATBELTS!—watched tv.
OMG. Don’t get me wrong.
It isn’t all bad; there are a few good documentaries out there, some funny series, and live sports.
However, apart from that, it hurts SO much.
Namely “Reality TV.”
Er, junk.
Whoever invented that shit was probably thinking, “Well, how can I get content that’s cheap to produce and make people watch it?”
Barely ever did this person consider whether it’s good for people.
But who cares? Money!
And you see more and more channels coming up promoting shows like these. Why? Because it works.
Here’s what concerns me.
I care about the consequences.
Let’s be clear:
- Reality TV shows you that the way to go is to dumb down, be superficial, and freak out all the time.
- “The News” tell you what they want to tell you—not necessarily the truth. They show you what sells. And what is that? Negativity: scandals, failures, accidents, crashes, riots, etc. If you want to be informed, great. But, please, do it by researching various sources. Don’t rely on mainstream media alone.
- Advertising persuades you that you need this new thing over here, or that stuff over there …or you’re worth a piece of shit. Not directly, of course. Subtle. Indirectly. In truth, you don’t need anything (or anyone else) to improve your life. You are enough. Get that.
- Violence is glorified.
- And so much more …Urgh!
But it’s your choice.
You decide whether you want to live a life in sad frustration, deep depression, and loneliness (what watching tv reinforces)…
…Or if you want to step up, do whatever it takes, and live a more meaningful life that you want to live. (What watching me reinforces…)
As always, I can show you the way…
…However, it is YOU who has to take the initiative.
